Ten precious hours in Philly.
Taken in Philadelphia on 8 June 2013
Scenes from my ever-so-brief visit “home” to West Philly. “Brief” as in about sixteen hours. What IS home, anyway? ….wish I knew.

Ready for the lushness of summer in Philadelphia. Hot, sticky, humid, even swampy and sweaty…it’s a beautiful time in the city, especially in West Philly, where backyards like this abound. Every summer I want nothing more than to be home in Philly.
Christmas, south #philly style. #latergram
A place I will probably always call home, regardless of where I happen to live. #philly (Taken with Instagram)

On Tuesday I’ll be back in the city I love. And I’ll be there (or in the vicinity) for a full month!
This is a working vacation for me, a time to focus on my work, build relationships with my client(s), and pursue some really exciting projects, both worky-style and fun-style.
I’m traveling without Kai, though. I don’t think I’ve completely registered that I’m going to be away from my little guy for nearly a month. As the manager of the circus daycare put it today, “He’ll be fine. I don’t know about you, though.”
It’s true. He will be just fine. And so will I (I hope). If you’ve been reading, you know that I’ve had a rather rough post-partum period, and I think that a little time to regain comfort with myself is absolutely critical. What better way than to surround myself with friends who are family in my favorite place in the world?
Philly phriends, see you soon.
I managed to talk a few of my friends into doing a casual (super casual) photoshoot a few weeks ago while I was home. They were all really good sports and very patiently hung out for a couple hours while I fumbled around and snapped a gajillion shots. All the pictures are straight out of the camera or adjusted slightly for exposure.
Thank you so much Jonathan, Kayla, Hannah, Katie, and Caroline. And Kai, too.
p.s. See the full-size versions (plus more that didn’t get published on the Book of Face right here on Flickr).
homesick.
