  • I’m appalled.

Thanks to Jen at Blag Hag for bringing this ridiculous story with incredibly scary implications to her readership’s attention.

I’d also like to say that I really hate giving Christine O’Donnell any more air time than she’s already getting.  This is too ridiculous for me not to comment on.

The gist of the story is this:  Her campaign says that she is advocating for a return to literal translation of the Constitution.  The term “separation of church and state” does not appear in the Constitution, and they charge that “Any rule that makes religion or religious people unwelcome in any place or any aspect of American life is a violation of the ‘FREE EXERCISE OF RELIGION’ guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment…there cannot be ‘free exercise’ with a wall of separation…”  Her campaign goes on to question the integrity of biologists and geneticists and to accuse them of not examining all sides of the issue.

While it wouldn’t be very fair of me to assume that Ms O’Donnell and her staff would work tirelessly to ensure that THEIR interpretation of religion gets top priority when it comes to policy decisions, it’s not a far stretch of the imagination, is it?  They’re being disingenuous by making it sound like ALL religions are at risk if the government doesn’t step in.

    I’m frustrated.  That is all.
